Leonardo DiCaprio Donates $3.4 Million to Indigenous Groups in the Ecuadorian Amazon
After dedicating his Golden Globe Award for Best Actor to indigenous groups around the world, Leonardo DiCaprio has donated $3.4 million to groups in the Ecuadorian Amazon through The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation!
Leo donated a total of $15 million for various environmental projects. $3.4 million will go towards groups in the Ecuadorian Amazon who have been affected by petroleum extraction. The money will specifically help the Cofanes, Secoyas, Sionas, and Huaoranis.
Other funds will go towards monitoring commercial fishing in Oceania, conservation of coral reefs in the Seychelles, promoting renewable energy in the United States, and protecting the rain forest from palm oil deforestation.
“The destruction of our planet continues at a pace we can no longer afford to ignore,” Leonardo said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We have a responsibility to innovate a future where the habitability of our planet does not come at the expense of those who inhabit it.”
Taylor Swift Meets Cancer Patient At ACM Awards.
Last year a cancer patient named Kevin McGuire was asked by Taylor Swift to be her date at the ACM’s but unfortunately he was too sick to go. This year was a different story. Kevin is on the rebound thanks to a bone marrow transplant he received from his brother! So this year he was able to go to the ACM’s and he got to meet and take a picture with Taylor.
It looks like he had a great time! Kudos to Taylor for making this happen. I’m sure she made his entire year!
Michael Jordan Gives Back Free Money!
Michael Jordan is giving back to several Chicago nonprofits, using a multi-million dollar settlement.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the NBA star had promised to donate the money he received after winning an $8.9 million settlement against supermarket Dominick’s for an unauthorized use of his name in an advertisement. He also won a settlement against Jewel-Osco, which is also owned by Dominick’s owner Cerberus Capital, for an undisclosed sum.
Michael gave back to 23 charities in Chicago, including After School Matters, Casa Central and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
“I care deeply about the city of Chicago and have such incredible memories from my years there,” Michael said in a news release. “The 23 charities I’ve chosen to make donations to all support the health, education and well-being of the kids of Chicago. Chicago has given me so much and I want to give back to its kids — the city’s future.”

Christmas came early for a Swiftie this year, with a gift that she’ll never forget! Taylor Swift paid a surprise visit to Delaney Clements, a fan who is currently battling cancer.
According to Us Weekly, Taylor went to see Delaney in a Colorado hospital before Christmas. “Literally speechless right now!!!!!” Delaney captioned a photo of the two of them on Instagram. “My best friend (as I call her now) made a special stop from going home to Tennessee and surprised me and gave me the best present/hugg ever!! Thank you!! I love you!! Happy holidays!!”
Rihanna raised over $3 million for the Clara Lionel Foundation!
Rihanna hosted her second annual Diamond Ball late last week, and the event raised over $3 million for the Clara Lionel Foundation!
According to Entertainment Weekly, the formal event, hosted by Kevin Hart, raised the funds for the foundation to assisted underprivileged communities world wide. Rihanna created the foundation back in 2012 in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite.
Rihanna said she knows her grandmother would be proud of her efforts. “She is definitely here in spirit and she feels delighted to be a part of such a great cause, raising money in her honor, to help, save and change many lives,” the singer said.
The event was truly a star-studded affair with attendees including Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Kylie Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Zendaya. The ball included a live auction, which included a Bono-signed guitar and an exact replica of Rihanna’s custom Christian Dior gown.

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan have made a very generous donation to the San Francisco General Hospital!
According to PR Newswire, the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation (the Foundation) will receive a grant of $75 million from the couple. The grant, believed to be the largest the foundation has received in its entire history, will be going toward the San Francisco General Hospital and new Trauma Center. The donation will help to provide state-of-the-art equipment and technology for the new building opened in December 2015. It will also help support the foundation in being able to support the hospital and its patients, as well as the foundation’s efforts to increase awareness about the impact the hospital is having throughout the community.

2 Chainz is continuing to give back this holiday season! The rapper has given away a brand new car to an Atlanta family after a fire destroyed their home.
According to VIBE, Damien Walker, Tamifonika Jones, and their four children lost their home and belongings in a fire this past September. Tamifonika and two of the children were placed in induced comas with burns while Antonio, the youngest child, suffered serious brain damage as a result of oxygen deprivation.
After hearing about the tragedy, 2 Chainz decided to visit the family, presenting them with a brand new Honda minivan purposed to transport Antonio to and from physical therapy. “You know y’all story it affected a lot of people. It got back to me and so I really been using God’s gift to me to really give back with not a lot of strings attached,” the rapper said.

Stars from all over, including Pearl Jam and Big Sean, are donating money and water in the wake of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
According to Rolling Stone, Pearl Jam announced on Friday that they would be donating $300,000 to the United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund, and encouraged others to give as well on CrowdRise. Big Sean also made a donation of $10,000 through his The Sean Anderson Foundation. The rapper also started a CrowdRise campaign, which has raised a little over $20,000 for the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Michigan. Other stars like Cher and Jimmy Fallon have donated to the cause as well.
