The tides of the War on Drugs are definitely changing. Marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 drug by the United States Federal Government, but individual states are legalizing both it and the cannabis plant in increasing numbers. This movement began with medical aspects but has since moved on to general legalization without any catch requiring users to prove a medical benefit.
Despite that, there are medical advantages and therapeutic benefits to cannabis. And as CBD and other compounds found in cannabis are discovered to offer help to patients suffering from various medical problems, questions start to arise among both doctors and patients. Will using these new treatments, or possible treatments, leave me needing to get high? Can CBD oil help me deal with my anxiety or pain only at the cost of my clear head, or is it safe for me to try CBD as an alternative to modern pharmaceuticals that haven’t quite done it withing needing to become a stoner?
It turns out, CBD oil is safe. It is not THC, but a separate compound. And unlike THC, which is the classic stoner compound in marijuana, CBD produces no high effect. It is not psychoactive and can be taken by anyone without fear of altering their mental state. The benefits of CBD are therapeutic, not recreational.
Key Points:
- 1CBD does not get you high – there is no known link to this.
- 2THC is the active ingredient that gets you high and it only kicks in if you take a lot of it.
- 3Taking the proper dose of CBD for you does not get you high.
